Kate says: "I have always loved Jesus; he is a special friend to me. When I am feeling lonely I go to my room and pray to Him and talk to Jesus about how I am feeling. He makes me happy because He understands how I feel. I know Jesus loves me because He cares for me. I know that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead for me. I want to follow Him and have been baptised."
Kate describes herself as someone with ‘special needs’ because she is ‘special’ and that she is. She attended College for six years where she was trained to be as self sufficient as possible; this included skills for working, cooking etc. She has worked in various places and done various things, from working in the kitchens to office work. At present she works at Open Doors, twice a week. She helps with the newsletters for Micah once a month. Kate, as she puts it, is an expert in folding the letters, placing them in envelopes and sticking both address labels and stamps. She has done art and music courses, attends ‘Line Dancing’ classes and a Christian Youth Club for people with special needs. Her favourite scripture is Psalm 23 and choruses are ‘Here is love Vast As The Ocean’, ‘Shout to the Lord’, and ‘We Are Marching’.
